ABOUT THE MANTA RAYS

Team Goals

 

The NUMBER 1 GOAL of the Running Man Manta Ray swim team is to HAVE FUN!  Additional benefits include (and are not limited to):

  • Great friendships

  • Learning stroke techniques and proper diving skills

  • Endurance

  • Late night swim parties

  • Experiencing team spirit

  • Qualifying for city meet times and participating in the GPSA city meet

 

The Running Man Manta Rays have been around since 2000. Our swimmers range from novice to experienced year-round swimmers. If you live in Running Man, we hope you will join us. If not, please come out and cheer on our swimmers and enjoy the outdoors! If you have any questions about joining the team, please feel free to contact us. Parent Duties

​

Our swim meets are run exclusively by parent volunteers. 

 

AS THE PARENT OF A MANTA RAY, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO FULFILL DUTIES THAT ARE VITAL TO THE OPERATION OF SWIMMING EVENTS.

 

Some of these duties include:

  • Concession sales

  • Time keeping

  • Score keeping

  • Referee

  • Stroke and turn judge

  • Setup and take down

 

The opportunity to choose your volunteer jobs and the dates you perform them will be offered through Sign-Up Genius after registration.

GPSA​

 

The Running Man Manta Rays compete in the White Division of the Greater Peninsula Swimming Association (GPSA). Many resources are available on the GPSA website.  Some examples that you may find particularly useful are:

PRACTICE TIMES

​

May 28- June 6:

  • 4:00–5:00 pm
    Middle/high school swimmers (includes rising 6th graders)

  • 5:00 - 5:45 pm Elementary-age swimmers

​

June 10 - season's end:

  • 8–9:30 am
    Middle/high school swimmers (includes rising 6th graders)

  • 9:30–10:30 am
    Elementary-age swimmers

  • 10:30 - 11am

       Little Rays Swim Team

       Prep Program, 4 yrs old

       and older

COSTS

Registration:

$120 first swimmer
$110 second swimmer
$100 third swimmer
$90 each additional

+ Swimtopia app purchase

​Shirt Personalization:

$3 (optional)

 

Other expenses:

  • Swim suit (solid black suit for girls and boys)

  • Optional spirit wear, which includes, but is not limited to, a team T-shirt with the name of the team members and sponsors on back; T-shirts for family members, shorts, towels

  • Swim cap

  • Concessions donations (food/drink) thru volunteer signups

  • End of Season Banquet

 

The cost of registration is used to cover the salaries of the coaches and junior coaches.  The Running Man Manta Rays (RMMR) is a non profit organization. Any additional income is generously provided by our sponsors. For your convenience, the swim team board is offering an online registration and payment option.
